Our sweet Alice

Today I had the opportunity to take my daughter Alice to get an ultrasound.  She is very sweet and did such a great job today.  She has been pretty unsure of doctors lately as the last time we went she got two shots and blood drawn, after I had told her she probably wouldn't need either (oops).  The appointment today was just an ultrasound, so she didn't have to get poked.

On the way to her appointment today, she threw-up a lot of breakfast in the car right before we got there and was COVERED in throw-up.  I cleaned her up the best i could with napkins, but she was still pretty wet.  I though she was going to have a melt-down but she was so calm and patient.  When we got into he doctor, we didn't have another change of clothes so they provided us with a gown to wear.  (She, by the way, LOVES this hospital gown and wants to wear it all the time). The ultra sound took a REALLY long time for some reason today, but she was patient and did everything the ultra-sonographer asked of her.  The ultra-sonographer told us that they are always nervous when they see pediatric cases coming in, but that Alice was one of the best behaved children she had ever worked on.

After the appointment, as a special treat, we stopped at a Wendy's and got a little frosty.  She told me she had never had a frosty before, what a deprived child.  She was SO happy to get a little treat.

Alice did so great today.  Recently we have been talking a lot about healthy ways to deal with hard situations with Alice(not screaming and hitting things, etc) so I was so pleased to see how well she did with today adventure.  We are so grateful for our little Alice, she is so sweet.

(Before Alice was born, when she was still in Amy's tummy, we found out via an ultra sound that Alice was missing a Kidney.  Apparently this happen more than people realize, and you can do just fine with one. But because of this, the doctors are extra careful to make sure the one kidney is working well since there is no back up.  When she was a baby she use to get a lot of UTIs which could potentially cause a threat to her single kidney. So, when Alice was 1 years old, she actually had a surgery to fix some of her urinary tract system.  Ever since that surgery we sometime get her check out.  She is 4 now and doing great.  Here's a picture of her right before her surgery.)
