Barbie's Automatic Closet
When you have 5 small children, it is hard to find ways to spend some alone time with your spouse. In order for us to go on dates, we "trade babysitting" with another couple. We watch their kids one week, then later they watch our kids. This system is really only fair if the couple you are are trading with has a comparable number of children to your own. Today we traded babysitting with another couple with 5 young kids, so for a few hours it was as though we had 10 kids. This sounds pretty daunting, but it actually was not bad at all. Their kids were similar ages and mostly girls, so our girls had fun playing with them. It was truly a win win for everyone.
A good portion of my time was spend trying to help barbie build a closet. Apparently, Barbie is actually a scientist and interested in solving engineering problems. This ingenuity was put to good use when she decided to build herself an automatic closet to hang all of her clothes. (This was all part of a learn-some-Science-with-Barbie kit which we acquired somehow). Building this thing was a nightmare. It had tons of little pieces many of them were punched out of a sheet of flimsy plastic. Some of the pieces didn't fit quite right or didn't line up and the direction were confusing for me, an adult with a science degree. The other family had to go home before we finished it, so I finished it off myself after they were gone. We were missing some pieces, but in the end I think I got is all together and working. After it was together, it still did not work that great. I was pretty disappointed in Barbie engineering of the closet.
Welp, here it is after I finished:

Perfect depiction of the life of a father with 5 girls lol
