Dallas Dreams of Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie

Today, I made a Strawberry-Rhubarb pie, and even though the crust didn't come out quite like I had wanted, this is probably my favorite (or second favorite) pie I have made so far. I learned while making this pie is that Rhubarb is NOT in season right now, so I had to use frozen rhubarb, which is not ideal for the pie.  Something different on this pie is I did a crumble top instead of a pie top or lattice.  It still has a stick of butter in it, plus some extra sugar.  Yum

Something I realized today is that my pie pan is actually a 9.5" pan, and I have been doing recipes for 9" pans.  It definitely makes a difference, I had thought that the pies seemed under filled and now I know why.  I haven't decided if I will just start making more pie, or buy a smaller pie pan.

Below is the link for the sped up pie making:

Also today, I decided to do a bike ride instead of my usual run.  This is my first and probably last one of the season, it is already pretty cold for biking. Next summer I will do much more, maybe I will do a triathlon next year, we'll see.

And in other news, Emma has lost another tooth! She has now lost all four of her front teeth. It is a pretty large hole now.

  2. I have always loved fruit pies and some cream pies, but have never had rhubarb pie. Whenever I see rhubarb I think it doesn't look like something I would want in my pie. But apparently you really like it. How did Amy and the girls feel about it? The expressions on their faces leave me with doubts.
